MSC SCOLA is divided into two sections: Administration and Programs

The subcommittees under Administration are responsible for most of the logistics and backstage portions of the conference. The subcommittees under Programs are responsible for the effective planning of the events that occur at the conference. You will find information about each subcommittee below!

ADMINISTRATION

Marketing

The Marketing subcommittee is in charge of promoting the Student Conference on Latinx Affairs in the best and most influential way. The Committee is responsible for acting as a central point of communication between the staff and the delegates. Marketing’s duties include but are not limited to maintaining the organization’s website, creating the conference image/conference flyer, creating digital signage of the flyer for events held during the conference, keeping an active social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Finance, Logistics, and Operations (FLO)

The FLO subcommittee focuses on the finances and logistics behind MSC SCOLA.

This subcommittee manages all the financial logistics of the committee. This includes raising money for the team through donations, profit shares, and fundraisers. This subcommittee is ideal for those with a knack for budgeting.

On the operations side, it is all about the logistics behind SCOLA. The team takes care of hotels, food, ordering t-shirts, conference swag, as well as keeping an inventory of what supplies we have/what we need.

Registration

The Registration team is responsible for assuring a simple registration process for the delegates. They also coordinate with marketing to reach out to other schools. Additionally, they work closely with the chair to assure that various colleges and departments provide sponsorships for students.

PROGRAMS

Conference Programming

This subcommittee is combined with Workshops and Facilitators.

This subcommittee executes the workshop proposal process including accepting sessions which tie to the conference theme. They also reach out to professors, professionals, and other members of the community who can bring their expertise to the delegation. Additionally, they are responsible for scheduling and maintaining communication with these speakers.

Conference programming is also responsible for assuring the participation of roundtable facilitators (professionals, professors, etc.) who will lead delegates in theme-related discussions through the conference. Additionally, this subcommittee will work with the Vice Chair to design the discussions and activities in which the delegates will participate in.

Student Development

The Student Development subcommittee is responsible for the development of General Committee Meetings (GCMs), retreats and social functions for MSC SCOLA throughout the academic year. They lead weekly committee meetings and develop opportunities for the committee to learn and discuss relevant topics to the MSC SCOLA conference theme.

Entertainment

The Entertainment subcommittee is responsible for contacting, organizing, and promoting the entertainment portions of the conference. Previous examples have included performances, poetry and comedy nights, and the Gala. This team will work closely with Marketing, the Vice Chair of Programs, and the Chair to reach out to potential performers, consider the budget, and to promote events. Additionally, this team will coordinate to create and execute other activities for the delegates to enjoy throughout the conference (i.e., photo booths, giveaways, etc.)
