ABOUT MSC SCOLA
Founded in 1988, the Memorial Student Center Student Conference on Latinx Affairs (MSC SCOLA) is a student organization that focuses on the creation and execution of a three-day conference in which participants have the chance to hear from a wide array of speakers ranging from professionals within the academic, government, business, and media sector. Our purpose is to provide a forum for students to discuss significant issues that impact the Latinx community and to foster exemplary leadership and professional development among our members. It is our belief that the interaction, discussion, and enlightenment fostered by the conference effectively creates a stimulating educational and life-changing experience.
LETTER FROM THE MSC SCOLA CHAIR
Howdy!
I am Joslynne Santos, a senior Zoology major and Performance Studies minor at Texas A&M University. I have the absolute honor of serving as the Chair for the Memorial Student Center’s 36th Annual Student Conference on Latinx Affairs, MSC SCOLA.
MSC SCOLA is a student-led organization that focuses on the creation and execution of a three-day conference that highlights national and international topics within the Latinx community. It is our belief that the interaction, discussion, and enlightenment provided by the conference will stimulate educational and life-changing experiences within the Texas A&M University community. This is a complex endeavor, and we invite you to take part in our efforts!
The 2023-2024 MSC SCOLA Executive Team has chosen Iluminando el Camino: I am a Star as the theme for this year’s conference! This translates to “Illuminating the Path: I am a Star.” Past MSC SCOLA conferences have organized themes that honored our past, highlighted the influence we have in our present, and inspired our future. For this conference, we wanted to focus on a more personal connection within the Latinx community and further narrow our scope from these previously discussed time periods in our lives to our personal mindsets. This theme is inspired by the desire to award recognition to ourselves for our hard work and not be self-conscious about feeling pride in our achievements. With this theme we hope everyone will radiate self-confidence as they reflect on the obstacles they overcame to be who they are today and be excited for the opportunities they can pursue in the future.
Thank you for your interest and support for MSC SCOLA. I look forward to seeing you at our 36th annual student conference on April 4th through April 6th.
Thank you again and remember, si se puede!
